Formation

Gilles Kolbet, born in 1988, is a Luxembourgish primary school teacher. He discovered his passion for art alongside the lifelong artistic work of his grandfather who inspired him by exploring different techniques and methods of paintings. His abstract art highlights the idea of letting the medium dictate the outcome of his artwork. By pulling paint across his canvas with squeegees and spatulas, different wet layers are overlayed by new ones, torn or completely extinguished which creates a picture of the interplay of planning, coïncidence and intuition.
